In 1990, the then Finance Minister Dr Manmohan Singh initiated the policies towards globalization and economic liberalization under the Congress government headed by P.V. Narasimha Rao. This is perhaps the big milestone towards the economic growth of India.

Post globalization, the Indian market flooded with international branded goods starting from electronic, clothes, cosmetics, foods etc. It influenced in improving the Indian economy and made it a huge consumer market. It increased the competitions among the suppliers and improved the quality of goods. The liberalization helped in the growth of different areas like service sectors, industrial sectors and agriculture sector. It created job opportunities in great extent in different segments like retail, marketing, software, call centre etc. Since the globalization and liberalization policy implemented, the economic condition of India gradually started improving in a faster track. Today, India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
